⭐ Why Melinda Loves Slow Cooker Ham with Pineapple

    Melinda Keckler in her kitchen.

The prep time is about 5 minutes, then your slow cooker does all the work. I've been making this recipe for years!

Ham is a versatile main dish. My family enjoys it with Twice Baked Mashed Potatoes and Elegant Green Bean Casserole.

This isn't a sticky, syrupy ham glaze. The marmalade and deli mustard add a tangy, sweet coating to the ham while it cooks in the slow cooker.

🥗 Ingredients to Have on Hand

Ingredients for marmalade glazed ham on a table.

Ham: Buy your favorite variety of store-bought, fully-cooked ham. You can toss out any spice packet that might come with the ham.

Orange Marmalade: The flavors of a sweet orange marmalade are the perfect companion to ham. You'll love the way the flavors marry with the smokiness of the ham.

Deli Mustard: Opt for a zesty mustard with stone-ground mustard seeds, usually mentioned on the label. Any zesty variety of mustard will work great.

Scroll to the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

Step 3: Place the ham in the slow cooker. Add all of the canned, crushed pineapple. Pour it on top of the ham and let the juices collect around the ham in the bottom of the slow cooker. Use a spoon to top the ham with the marmalade and mustard mixture. ( Photo #3) Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours.

    💭 Recipe FAQs

Does it matter if my ham is boneless or not?

Either bone-in or boneless works great! I like to use boneless for this recipe because it makes slicing a little easier.

How long will the ham stay fresh?

Store leftover ham covered and in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. You can enjoy the ham cold - ham sandwiches! - or warmed up. Freeze any additional leftovers in freezer-safe, air-tight containers for up to 6 months.

I'm serving a crowd, can I use a bigger ham?

Sure! As long as your slow cooker is big enough. If the ham is larger than 8 pounds consider doubling the marmalade glaze ingredients.

🥘 What to Serve with Slow Cooker Ham with Pineapple

Ham is so incredibly versatile! It goes great with many side dishes and can be served at room temperature on a brunch buffet or a holiday dinner table. I have found that just about any potato recipe is a delicous companion to ham.

My version of potato casserole, called Country Potatoes is a classic recipe that is easy to make ahead of time and is delicious for any meal.

If you serve ham during the warmer months, it goes great with cold side salads such as Five Bean Salad, lightly sweetened and tangy with balsamic vinegar.

Sweet Corn Pasta Salad is another cold side salad that is incredibly popular whenever I share it and can be made ahead of time.

If you are serving Slow Cooker Ham with Pineapple during the holidays, be sure to include Homemade Potato Rolls on the menu, along with Roasted Balsamic Brussels Sprouts and Zucchini Stuffing Casserole.

Pro Tip: Once the ham is cooked and sliced you can add a few spoonfuls of the pineapple, marmalade and mustard juice on top of the slices. Otherwise, you can toss the juice. It gave its all and did its job while making the ham incredibly sweet and tender during the cooking time.

    Ingredients

    • 1 5-6 pound fully cooked ham
    • 1 can crushed pineapple - 20-ounce can
    • 1 cup orange marmalade
    • ⅓ cup deli mustard - zesty with stone ground mustard seeds

    Instructions

    Prep Ham and Glaze

    • Unwrap the ham from its store packaging. You can discard any spice or seasoning packet that might be included. Place the ham on a cutting board and use a large, sharp knife to score the ham and make a criss-cross pattern cutting about ¼" deep.
    • As an option, if you use a pre-sliced ham there's no need to score it before cooking.
    • In a small bowl, use a spoon to blend the marmalade and mustard

Add Ingredients to the Slow Cooker

    • Place the ham in the slow cooker. Add all of the canned, crushed pineapple. Pour it on top of the ham and let the juices collect around the ham in the bottom of the slow cooker.
    • Use a spoon to top the ham with the marmalade and mustard mixture.

    Cover and Cook

    • Cover and cook the ham on low for 4-6 hours.
    • Carefully remove the ham from the slow cooker. Place it on a large plate and cover it with foil. Let the ham rest for 15 minutes.
    • Slice the ham and place on a serving plate, as an option add several spoonfuls of the pineapple/marmalade juice from the slow cooker over the sliced ham. Otherwise, you can toss the juice. It has done its job!
    • Serve warm or at room temperature and enjoy.

    Notes

Store leftover ham covered and in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. You can enjoy the ham cold - ham sandwiches! - or warmed up. Freeze any additional leftovers in freezer-safe, air-tight containers for up to 6 months. If you are serving this at Easter, I recommend making a Bunny Cake for dessert. It's a classic Easter treat that kids love! Another great option is classic Vanilla Cheesecake, a family favorite!

Ham is always a hit, especially at the holiday table. I usually use honey or maple syrup as a glaze. Hubby loves marmalade so I will give this a try next time. We even have some from Ireland!

Made this for my Easter dinner. I never would have thought to put a ham in the crockpot. I didn’t have marmalade so I substituted with apricot jam. The family loved it!
