Herb and Garlic Dip is super easy to make and a popular, family-favorite dip to serve alongside fresh, crunchy veggies or crispy chips and crackers. It goes great with Shrimp Cocktail Cups. It's a dip with dried herbs, making it convenient to keep all the ingredients on hand. For a gourmet treat, serve with Smoked Salmon.
Measure the first seven ingredients, all of the dry ingredients into a small bowl and stir to combine. You may want to scoop out ¼ teaspoon of the blended spices to use later as a garnish for the dip when it's time to serve.
Spoon 2 cups of sour cream into a medium-sized bowl and add the dry ingredients. Note: There's no need to measure the sour cream precisely. You can use up to 3 cups of sour cream.
Stir well to thoroughly blend the ingredients.
Refrigerate
Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
Serve
When you are ready to serve, remove the dip from the fridge, remove the cover and stir.
Place the bowl of dip on a serving platter with your choice of fresh veggies, chips, crackers, etc. Sprinkle the reserved herb mixture on top as a garnish. (Optional)
Cover and refrigerate any leftovers, use within 5 days for the best flavor.
Notes
The granulated garlic powder adds a noticeable garlic flavor to the creamy dip. There's no question, this dip has a garlic "bite" to it. If your family prefers less garlic decrease the amount of garlic powder from 1 tablespoon to 1 or 2 teaspoons or increase the amount of sour cream from 2 cups to 3 cups.
