Five Layer Bean Dip is an always-popular appetizer for parties or gatherings featuring five layers of delicious, taco-inspired flavors. It's a classic, eye-appealing way to enjoy bean dip and it's ready in 15 minutes! Serve along with chips and a bowl of Pico de Gallo with Jalapeno and Lime. Delicious too with sliced cheese and Spiced Walnuts. Here's another recipe I think you'll love: Homemade Taco Seasoning!
½teaspoongarlic salt- you can substitute the garlic salt, cumin and chili powder for 1 ½ teaspoons of Homemade Taco Spice.
½teaspooncumin
¼teaspoonchili powder
1cupMexican Style 4 Cheese Blendor any shredded cheese of your choice such as Cheddar or Monterey Jack
1cupdiced tomato
12.25 ouncecan sliced black olives
14 ounce can green chiles
½cupfresh cilantro, chopped
Instructions
Blend Ingredients
Empty contents of the refried beans into a medium-sized bowl. Add the salsa and stir to combine. Spread the bean and salsa mixture into a pie plate or a shallow, 9”x 9” baking dish.
In a small bowl blend the sour cream, garlic salt, cumin and chili powder. Spoon the sour cream mixture on top of the refried beans and spread the sour cream to the edges, being careful not to blend the two layers.
Create Layers
Sprinkle the cheddar cheese across the top of the sour cream.
Drain the canned, sliced olives and spread them evenly on top of the cheese.
Dice the tomato into very small, bite-sized chunks and spread the tomato on top of the cheese.
Spread the green chilis on top of the diced tomatoes then top with the chopped, fresh cilantro.
Refrigerate Until Serving
Cover and refrigerate until serving. Enjoy with crunchy crackers, tortilla chips, chopped vegetables or thick, sturdy potato chips.
Notes
I prefer using store-bought Mexican Style 4 Cheese Blend because I love the texture of the shredded cheese and the flavor combination of Monterey Jack, Cheddar, Asadero and Queso Quesadilla cheese. But mix things up by using a blend of cheeses including pepper jack or Sharp Cheddar cheese. Use whatever type of cheese you have on hand.Serve with plenty of crackers, sliced vegetables and Herb and Garlic Dip.
